CEGB Leeds Emergency Control Centre, Sharp lane, Rothwell Haigh

The Leeds Emergency Control Centre was built in 1953.

It was located alongside the GPO/BT PR2 repeater station in Sharp Lane at Rothwell Haigh.
In the 2002 picture the ECC is on the left and the GPO TRS (Transmission Repeater Station) is on the right.
The PR1 and PR2 repeaters were radiation hardened and built during the cold war.
Technology advances meant that only 8 were ever built as transistorised repeaters
could now be housed in Footway or Carriageway Boxes and buildings were no longer necessary.

A number of photos and drawings showing the location and internals of the Control Centre.
